You can’t go anywhere in the beauty blogging/vlogging world without coming across a Korean skincare product right now. Why? Well not only are the products kawaii-to-the-max, but they’re also known for being absolutely fab for oily/blemish prone skin as that’s usually the norm for most Koreans. Since I do have oil-slick skin the majority of the time, these products sound almost completely catered to my skin type, and after YesStyle* offered to send over their Korean Essentials Skincare box* for a review, I was so on it.
After about a week, a lovely lil colourful box popped into my post and I was pretty impressed to see that after a lot of transit, the box hadn’t been damaged at all! The box (& all of it’s yummy contents) retails for £28.00 (approx) contains five full sized and five sample sized Korean skincare products, which is pretty generous IMO. After a quick glace at the product guide, I was also delighted to see a great range of skincare products, including a brush cleanser, face mask, toner, hair mask, and lip balm – damn.
RiRe Style Black Head Brush Cleanser (20ml) | Full Size
This was the first thing that I spotted in the box, and it’s a good’un. A full sized brush cleanser?! I couldn’t think of anything better to find in a skincare beauty box tbh. The packaging is super simplistic, which I love, and the brush itself is the perfect size to get right in the pores (especially around the nose) to give them a good scrub and clear all the nasties out. The online reviews of this product are ah-mazing, so I really can’t wait to try this one as my pores are bloomin’ huge right now and are in need of some serious TLC.
Etude House AC Clean Up Toner (15ml) | Sample Size
I’ve heard quite a lot about this product in the Korean beauty circle, and I’m so excited to give it a whirl, as it’s perfect for blemish prone skin. ATM, my skin is having a complete meltdown due to the stress that I’m going through (uni, life, etc) and this would be perfect to reduce redness, soothe irritation, and level up my skin’s moisture levels.
Etude House AC Clean Up Pink Powder Mask (20ml) | Sample Size
I’m pretty glad to see this in the box as I love a good clay-type mask, and this one is a super kawaii baby pink colour too, awwwh! The mask promises to reduce blemishes and reduce pore size (I’m all for that) and you can also use it as a spot treatment. Did I mention that it’s pink?!
Benton Snail Bee High Content Mask Pack (20g) | Full Size
In this particular box, you can either get the product above, or this sheet mask, although I’m not entirely sure if you can choose between them… The mask contains snail mucin (whut?) essence and bee venom which sounds ridic. gross but apparently helps to soothe skin, whilst improving tone and texture. I have a feeling this a proper “marmite” product but I’m willing to give it a go.
REPIEL Smart Hair Mask Magic Steam (1 piece) | Full Size
This is an optional add-on for the essentials box, however as I have some seriously damaged hair it’s 100% an essential for me to use a hair mask. This one seems quite different as you put it on like a cap and let all the yummy oils absorb into your hair whilst you sit back and reeeeelax. It’s a one time use kinda thing, so I’ll be saving mine for a much needed Sunday Spa-day in the near future!
COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch (1 sheet /24 pieces) | Full Size
This whole idea is a bit alien to me, but is ingenious at the same time. The pack contains 24 hydrocolloid patches, which protect spots (that you may have squeezed, I wont tell) from infections and prevent them from swelling. The patches come in a variety of sizes and cover the entire affected area, to absorb excess sebum (puss, eww) and therefore promotes super quick spot healing.
AGATHA Essentiel Emulsion (10ml) | Sample Size
This Emulsion is sort-of like a serum, I think? You pop it on after cleansing and toning the face, whilst the rose extracts and red flower complex ensures hydration to restore the oil and water balance of skin. I honestly haven’t used a skin serum in a longggg time so I’m quite happy to try this one out in this months’ skincare routine – Watch this space!
Etude House Honey Cera Cream (10ml) | Sample Size
I am loving the cute packaging of this lil guy, and I hope that I’ll like the product just as much. It promises to hydrate and firm up tired & dry skin, which I’ve had plenty of around my lip and eye area at this time of the year! Its a pretty generous sample size too, as it seems a little really does go a long way. As I have oily skin, I will pop this on dry spots just before bed for a little tired-skin-TLC.
Tony Moly Panda’s Dream Pocket Lip Balm (3.8g) | Full Size
Uhhhh could a lip balm get any cuter?! This lil panda smells (& tastes) like sweet cherries, which is right up my street, and is the perfect size to throw in any handbag or clutch for on-the-go lip hydration. The balm is tinted pink, and provides such a pretty soft look on the lips which is very popular in Korea.
