Apparently March has been the month of trying new things. I’ve delved into so many makeup brands that I haven’t tried, for better and for worse, one of which being Benefit. I know what you’re thinking, how can a 23 y/o gal who loves her beauty purchases not have tried Benefit products before??? I guess the truth is that as shallow as it is, the packaging has never really called to me. Especially for such a high end price tag. However, for years I have witnessed girls and bloggers alike talk about Benefit Hoola Bronzer like it really is the bees knees. So, naturally, I really did have to find out if it was worth the hype.
Well, instead of buying the lil sample bronzer to see if I liked it, I went full blown and bought the real thing for £24.50 like a doofus. Yep, I’m a bit of an idiot like that, but hey I’ll be bronzed for years with this product as a little really does go a long way. I’ll get to that l8er though, because let’s talk packaging.
I absolutely hate this little cardboard box thing, I’m so sorry Benefit! I’m not the biggest fan of cardboard packaging in general, but for a bronzer like this, I can imagine a lovely little plastic snap-shut style packaging that would just work much better. I’ve accidentally closed it wrong and the corners of the cardboard into the product more times than I’d like to admit. The good thing about the lil square-style is that these types of product are easily stored away, so that’s something ey?
Everyone raves about this being such a flattering bronzer, and particularly about it being a gr8 shade to contour with. I’m sort of wondering if I’m using it wrong or what, but this shade is pretty warm. By pretty warm, I mean it looks ridic if I try to contour with it. As a bronzer shade, it’s beautiful. Is it anything special to be worth the price tag? I’m not entirely convinced.
A little really does go a long way with this bronzer, like wow. Unfortunately this does mean there’s a significant amount of kickback, even when I go in with a light hand. I also find that you can go OTT, so, so easily. Like I need to make sure I use a less dense brush, a light dab in the pan, and a light hand to apply.
Is it Worth The Hype? Ya’know what, I’m really not sure if it is. I know that I’m probably insulting a lot of beauty lovers with that statement but honestly, £24.50? I would probably not repurchase this, but then again, I probably wont have to as this will last for-ev-er. One thing that surprised me about this bronzer is the brush, I absolutely love the brush. Not for this bronzer though. I love using the brush to contour, it’s absolutely fab at getting right into the cheekbone to define. If I could buy the brush separately, I would.
Do you love the Benefit Hoola Bronzer?
Or like me, did you not think it was Worth The Hype?
