I’ve seen the brand name: “Winky Lux” pop up numerous times on my beauty radar, they’re stocked on ASOS, Beauty Bay, and IG-ers everywhere have been snapping away featuring their products. But, who the hell are they?! Winky Lux got in touch with me a few weeks back and sent over two products for me to try – their brand new cream highlight, and one of the matte lippies! Of course, new makeup makes me beam, but I get 100% pure joy from trying out new brands.
Of course I had to pick this shade, it was a given. Meow has a fab name if I do say so myself and also features the prettiest mauve tones in this versatile nude shade. The packaging of all of the Pill Lipsticks is just to die for, it’s gold, silver, and umm.. pill shaped duh. It’s also smaller than I imagined it to be, but I usually pop lippies like this in my handbag so that’s a-okay with me.
The colour applies pretty much like a cream lipstick at first, which totally freaked me out. I blotted it down, and within minutes it transformed into a really comfortable matte. It isn’t, however, one of those transferproof mattes so expect to see wear throughout the day.
Also, it’s worth noting that you need to remove the entire lip’s worth of product and then reapply, as this does not layer well. If it’s important that you can quickly reapply over old lipstick on yer lips, I would give this a miss. But it doesn’t take much to rub of the remnants with a tissue and swipe again.
This cream highlight product is described as a “highly pigmented strobing balm” and hell yeah, it defo is. This highlight is BOOM – like bright, in yo face, see me from space, highlight. The shade Lit is aptly named – it’s a crazy bright pearlescent shade, however the description isn’t spot on in my book. The formula is pretty much a liquid highlight, which is very almost set. As soon as you touch the product is completely melts and is, for lack of a better word at 7pm on a Monday night, gooey.
I did have to work this product and play around with it to find a way of sheering it down. I think the best way to apply a more natural, toned down glow for everyday is with a dry mini sponge and blend out by dabbing on the skin. On the other hand, if you are into that strobing trend, totally go for it with your fingers and you can build it up effortlessly.
Throughout my first day wearing this, I got so many compliments on how “glowy” my skin was looking, and the only thing that I changed from my daily routine was my highlight. Soooo I think I might be onto a winner with this one, guys.
IDEK why, but the Radiant Pink shade of this particular product costs a whopping £3.20 more, for the same amount of highlight.
