Recently I had the pleasure to attend a beautiful winter wedding and I thought that it would be the ideal topic for my first Fashion Edit of 2016
I absolutely adore organza pieces, and in combination with the soft floral pattern – I felt like a princess. I find it really hard to dress for your age when finding outfits for a wedding, and with the organza hem, it’s like wearing both and mini and a midi at once. As you can tell from the images, even a little bit of wind gave a lovely movement to the dress. The bardot neckline is perfect for a wedding as it suggests formality and hides any inappropriate cleavage, for some reason I find that it also adds an air of elegance that no other neckline can provide.
As I wanted to keep the dress as the focus point of this look, simple accessories were a must. I decided to go for a thickly strapped plain white stiletto heel. This was simply for practicality as I would be wearing them for a good part of the whole day, and I felt like a thicker strap would support my ankles better. I opted for a larger, un-structured clutch with a fringe tassel to add more of an edgy feel to the outfit, as a smaller clutch would have given an even more regal, princessy look – which certainly isn’t me.
Due to the bardot neckline, I decided to go for a delicate up-do with little plait details (again to add that unique edge). I started with a low ponytail and then flipped my hair into itself to create a “twisted” effect which looked pretty cool with my two-toned hair. Apologies for the messy state of it in the photos, Wales gets pretty windy!
I opted for a soft cut crease with winged liner, and a berry toned lip (Stila Stay All Day Lipstick in Amore) to complement the colours in the dress. I did actually go for a bit more of a heavy make up look due to the fact that I kept everything else quite simple.
Towards the evening celebrations I did do a speedy outfit revamp and swapped in a pair of comfy black kitten heels and threw on a kimono, and if you want to see shots of that look head over to my Instagram account. To finish, here’s a cheeky casual shot of my and my better half during the daytime celebrations – he looked so handsome in his suit!
