Dress – Chi Chi London The Lottie Dress *
Shoes – Office Tobias Ankle Cuff Heel (Sale £68 to £14.40)
Chi Chi London got in touch recently and asked if I would like to one of their New In dresses in a perfectly romantic Valentine’s Day look. Of course, I was beyond excited and couldn’t wait to style out a V-Day look for you all.
I obviously had to go for something a bit alternative, because I’m not a massive fan of a generic “girly” look – oh, and I only really wear monochrome. So this made it a bit tougher, but I found the dress for a quintessential Gothic Romance look.
I chose The Lottie Dress* as an alternative to the usual girly pinks and reds, without having to compromise on the shape of the dress at all. Not to say that this look isn’t girly, the baroque silver lace channels feminine elegance whilst adding a twist to typical V-Day style. Plus, the stunning tea dress shape accentuates tiny waists and the bardot neckline adds a graceful and sophisticated feature. The dress features a full mesh underskirt, which makes any lovely lady feel like a Disney princess – yes, even me! The main feature of the dress that I completely fell for is the embroidered sheer material covering the chest and arms – oh my gaaad. It’s safe to say that I almost refused to change out of this dress when I had to go to Tesco to buy my lunch. It’s one of those dresses, girls.
I opted for more clean cut, modern stiletto heeled shoes as I feel like this adds a 2016 edge to the baroque dress design – as if you couldn’t tell already, adding edginess to an outfit is my favourite past time. PS The shoes I’m wearing are currently down to £14.40 in the Office sale!
Keeping in mind that I’m only 5’1″, the dress fit exceptionally well. Usually I find that bodices of dresses end up ruched and unflattering, however this definitely wasn’t the case. Although it came up slightly longer on me than on the 5’9″ – sigh – this really didn’t make much of a difference at all, the fit was excellent, and I felt like a princess. Even if you’re a petite gal like me, this dress will definitely work wonders.
If wearing black on Valentine’s Day just isn’t yo’thang – the dress comes in 9 other colours, so you can seriously get your lace on. Oh and if lace doesn’t do it for you, Chi Chi London have plenty of stunning pieces to choose from.
Would you rock a Gothic Romance look this Valentine’s Day?
