A few weeks ago AEOS Skincare got in contact and offered to send me a few products from their collection. As I have the most indecisive, troublesome skin, I thought I’d give them ago. My skin really can’t decide whether it’d oily or dry and this causes so many problems with skincare and make up, especially with the harshness of the chemicals inside them. This is why I was so excited when I found out that their products are Organic and Biodynamic (a unique way of growing that seeks to improve the nutritional value of the product) – as I worked in a Organic/Vegan Health Store for almost 5 years during school and college. It was there that I learnt about how nourishing and high quality organic products can be. I received the AEOS Optimal Essentials Kit* (£68.00/10 items)
AEOS have a three phase system:
1. Renewal – cleansing the skin
2. Rebalance – to find that skin equilibrium between dryness and oilyness
3. Replenish – supporting skin regeneration and hydration
And these steps are repeated in every morning and every evening cleanse.
For my combination/oily skin I was recommended these products:
1. Gentle Cleansing Lotion & Gentle Exfoliant
2. Refreshing Hydrating Mist
3. Realive Serum & Enriching Moisturiser
1. Cleansing Oil De-Maq & Dew Facial Wash
2. Energising Conditioner & Refreshing Hydrating Mist
3. Realive Serum & Enriching Moisturiser
In my personal opinion, the amount of products that I needed to use was quite extensive. I usually just have a cleanser, exfoliator, and moisturiser. So I didn’t even know what half of the products were even used for. Keep in mind that I did stick to the regime for about a 5 days before it all sort of fell apart and I couldn’t really commit to it. One thing I will say though, is that even though these are trial size – the packaging is stunning. Sleek, sophistication in a bottle.
This smells so good. I don’t even know what it is – but it’s good. It was fresh and floral, and left my skin feeling lovely and soft. Although, it really wasn’t scrubby enough for me as an exfoliator – I really do like a vigorous scrub!
Gentle Cleansing Lotion*
I didn’t end up using this very much as I’m not a massive fan of lotion. This does smell wonderfully floral, and helps to remove any left over make-up residue. I usually skip this step (naughty) in my usual routine anyway as I just rely on my face washes to do this.
I did attempt to use this a few times, but I’m not quite sure that I quite got the concept of this. The consistency is almost between a gel and a cream and is supposed to balance the skin’s oilyness/dryness. I personally didn’t like the way it felt on my skin, but it did do what it promised to. I wore this before a full face of heavy make up and I was noticeably less oily – magic!
I am quite picky when it comes to moisturisers, again due to the oiliness of my skin. This one smells like lemon sherbet and my skin soaks it right up – it also provides a really smooth base for my make up so I’ve become a big fan of this little guy.
Cleansing Oil De-Maq*
This is like a make up remover that you pump out onto a cotton pad to cleanse with. As I have oily skin, I get very scared when putting oil on my face. And the fact that I really don’t like the feeing of oil on my skin didn’t help. Personally, I’ll stick to my make up wipes – but if you like a thorough, yet nourishing cleanse, this could get definitely work for you.
Dew Facial Wash*
I’ve used this every time I’ve showered since it arrived and I really do like it – it doesn’t have a very strong fragrance, and the consistency is quite watery so it’s very light on the skin. It leaves my skin feeling fresh and clean, and that’s exactly what I look for in a cleanser.
Refreshing Hydrating Mist*
100% The best item of the whole collection – I absolutely love this product. I’ve found myself reaching for this all the time. When I get a clammy and gross with oiliness, I spritz this all over my face and I’m instantly feel fresh again. It gives me a much needed boost, and my skin feels amazing afterwards.
This is something that I only used a few times, due to the fact that I currently don’t have any wrinkles and therefore I didn’t really know where else to put the serum – so I ended up putting it all over my face (oops) – it did get sort of sticky and my face felt more clogged up. I decided to ditch this one after that because I think it was too much for my delicate, oily skin.
I was also given samples of the Beauty Body Shower and the Beauty Body Lotion (neither was on the routine) so I just used them as I usually would. The Shower gel had that amazing lemon sherbet smell again and that was enough for me. My skin felt lovely and soft after using it too. As lotions go, I am so fussy – the Beauty Body Lotion absorbed so well yet the scent really wasn’t for me -I’m not quite sure as to describe it, but it would say that it’s noticeable more herbal than the other products.
I found some real hidden gems in the Enriching Moisturiser, the Refreshing Hydrating Mist, & the Dew Facial Wash – for me, these products would be enough to ensure super soft, oil free, clear skin. Although the regimented 3 phases system didn’t work for me, I believe this to be down to my age, my schedule, and realistically – my laziness. I do however, see myself using such a system in later life when skincare will be paramount to my daily routine.
