With all the controversy surrounding the Too Faced brand atm, I thought I’d bring things back around with a bit of positivity. Too Faced was the first high end brand that I actually bought makeup from, the packaging, brand engagement, etc – completely had me from day one. Despite there being an odd dud product as of recently, there are some Too Faced products that I wouldn’t ever go without in my makeup collection.
I bought the Born This Way concealer at a Too Faced blogger event just over a year ago, and it was my holy grail for months. Obviously, the beauty blogger life does take a hold of a gal, and I was busy trying out other concealers pretty soon. However, this is the concealer that I always come back to and reach for.
It’s super lightweight with medium coverage (aka don’t expect this to have exceptional coverage) but it’s perfect for a natural looking under eye. It’s not thick or crepe-y at all, but a very light formula that is effortless to blend out with. I also love priming my lids with this, as it’s also very nourishing and moisturising with the help of a little coconut water in the formula.
So I came across the Born This Way foundation after I received it in a nifty little PR package a few months ago, and completely fell in love with the formula. If you have oily skin, this stuff is mattifying without leaving you dull at all. The finish is a beautiful matte satin look, which looks like real skin. The whole “Born This Way” name is beyond appropriate, as it doesn’t look cakey or built-up at all – flawless skin without the cake = perfect! It’s not the best ever foundation longevity-wise on my oily skin, but it holds up pretty darn well.
Too Faced Cat Eyes Eyeshadow Palette
You know when you’re strolling through TK Maxx and end up buying things in the beauty dept. just because they’re reduced in price? This was kinda that sort of purchase for me. That, and the fact that it’s called the “Cat Eyes” palette – duhhhh. Turns out, this is now one of my top shelf palettes and I reach for this all the time. It’s so fab to travel with, as there are quite a few look options inside, whilst the palette itself is sturdy and a good travel size. The formula of these eyeshadows lasts ages on me, even without primer, and most of the time I’ll use this on “lazy makeup days” when I just want a pop of shimmer in my inner corner or a wash of colour on the lid.
I’ve been gifted this a few times now, but before that, I bought tubes and tubes of the stuff. I’ve stopped using it more recently in summer as I found that it began to flake on my quite easily in the heat. However, when the cooler weather hits I’ll definitely be stocking up on this once again. I know that there are a few dupes on the market (I’ve tried them) but nothing quite looks like the O.G. Better Than Sex Formula for my tiny lil lashes.
Holyyyyyy crap, guys. This is holy grail status right there. I’m sorry I’m so late on the hype surrounding this blush, but I can 100% say that it totally lives up to expectations. It’s beautiful in the pan and on the skin, blends out effortlessly, and lasts all day. I wore this a week ago and took selfies (lol) and when I was looking back at them my first thought was “omg my blush is popping” and I was wearing this for the first time. I can’t wait to try this formula out in other shades because the formula is on point girllll.
If I had to choose one lip gloss to wear forever, this would be it. I am so shook guys, let me explain. Basically, I’ve pretty much had a hate-hate relationship with lip glosses for my whole life. I hate the sticky ones, even if they’re like lacquers or whatever, and the feeling of thick lip glosses on the lips makes me feel a bit queasy. This lip gloss is something else. The shade is literal perfection for my skin tone, it’s the right balance between blush and nude which makes for a flattering lip to wear with all sorts of eye looks, or even on it’s own on low-maintenance days. I enjoy this product more and more every time I apply it, and even my boyfriend noticed it and said how much he likes it on me?!
Okay, confession here – I really don’t like this shade on me but I was sent this item in PR so, of course, I’ve been wearing it over the last few months to assess the formula. Genuinely, I really like the formula. It feels like a pretty standard liquid to matte lip, but it smells great, and the packaging is so cute. It’s just too on the mauve side of things and washes out my olive skin! Formula wise – A*.
Thought I’d round off my “Best of Too Faced” post with the gem of my collection, the Sweet Peach palette, as people have such a Marmite opinion on this one! I bought this the day it realised in the UK at Debenhams at like 8am, and I haven’t regretted that decision since. Don’t get my wrong, there are times when I literally forget about it as I’m trying out other makeup. But every time I did this one out and use it, I think to myself ~ this is bloody great palette ~ so if you’re thinking about trying it out, I 100% back you up huns xo.
