It’s finally Spring, and there are no more excuses for hoarding clothes going into the season. Deep blues and burgundies are officially last season’s news, and I am so ready to fill my wardrobe up with all things pastel. I am 100% ready to clean out my closet, even though it can get pretty difficult when saying goodbye to certain pieces. The majority of the pieces I only wear once or twice – sometimes I find things with the tags still on. Hello, serial compulsive-buyer!
So here are my top tips on how to seriously clean out yo’ closet girl:
1) If it’s been two months, and still has the tag on – say goodbye.
Whether that means giving it to a friend, taking it back to the shop for a gift voucher, or selling it online – adios! After two months you’ll most likely be moving into the new season, and trying to get your hands on all the new trends. Yes, that deep red lace number made your butt look bangin’ – but will you actually wear it in the near future?
2) Got a load of clothes lying about? All of it is worth some serious $$$.
About a year ago, I was moving houses at university and decided that quite a few suitcases full to the brim of unworn clothes needed to go. I sold the lot on ebay and got about £400 for it – kaching!
3) No, wearing a piece once a month does not count.
“Well I can’t sell it because I wore it a month ago and it looked fab…” This is definitely how I persuade myself to keep a lot of items that I just don’t wear. Have a good long think!
4) “I do not need 100 pairs of jeans / tees / jumpers in the same style / colour / texture.”
Everyone has a version of the above sentence that is just too true. Ever look through your wardrobe and see the same item but with slight differences? As a true monochrome-gal, my options are limited. However recently I have found myself to be purchasing way too many items in pastel pink, and I will probably never get round to wearing all of them.
5) You do not need to feel guilty about buying new clothes, if you get rid of the old ones!
I always find myself a little less guilty after a shopping spree, when I’ve made a little cash to pay for it, and some room in my closet to put it all.
Fever Collection – Magical Princess Costume w/ Dress*
River Island – Cape-igan (Years old)
Pisces – Obi Wrap Belt
Public Desire – Trisha Ankle Boots in Black Faux Suede*
Plus I absolutely loved styling this cute little dress-up outfit* from Fever Collection, and with the last term of this Uni year approaching – bring on ALL the socials *devil horns emoji*
This dress-up outfit is super cheap at just £28.99, compared to the majority of joke shops you find around campus! I’ve decided to grunge mine down in true The Kitty Luxe style – with a cape-cardi and some kick ass boots* from Public Desire. The boot detailing is hella dreamy, and the square toe is so spring season.
How are you cleaning out your closet for Spring, Princess?
