Through the maze of fairy lights & delicious scents of Christmas, you’ll find the Rekorderlig Cider Lodge tucked into the back of Udderbelly’s South Bank Festival. The festival is located just down the road from the London Eye along the Thames. You (literally) cannot miss it! If you’re used to the sights of South Bank in winter, you’ll know the beautifully lit up carousel, and the festival is just next door. The lodge is experiencing it’s 5th year at South Bank, and it’s fast become a favourite gracing the bank of the Thames.
THE REKORDERLIG CIDER LODGE
Head on down through the festival, and you’ll spot the Rekorderlig Cider Lodge. Genuinely, you can’t miss it. Why? Because it’s an actual lodge. Red and towering, the lodge looks like *just* the place to grab a drink and cosy up on a sofa and catch up on the week. I can imagine coming down after work to gossip with a bestie, or even host an annual festive catch-up with my uni friends. The area is so inviting, and even the grinchy-est of folks couldn’t deny it’s charm.
The setting gives this hygge, Scandinavian warmth and I felt truly immersed into a uniquely Swedish experience. After visiting Stockholm back in January 2018, I missed the scandi winter vibes and the lodge gave me serious nostalgia.
CREATING MY OWN REKORDERLIG COCKTAIL
I was invited down to the Lodge to try out a few new Rekorderlig concoctions. I couldn’t wait to try the seasonal fave Rekorderlig Spiced Plum and to create my own cider cocktail. At 18 years old, I tried Rekorderlig cider, and it was one of my first ever the very first alcoholic drinks! There was something so enticing about a cider that has a flavour for everyone whilst remaining refreshing with a clean taste. Strawberry & Lime quickly became my personal go-to.
Once I started working on my cocktail, I was all over the idea of creating my own fruity flavour. I got to work deciding on the ingredients and garnishes for my ideal Rekorderlig cocktail and I chose to mix white rum, pineapple juice, grenadine. Oh, and my fave Rekorderlig Passionfruit Cider for a fruity twist.
REKORDERLIG PREMIUM SPICED PLUM CIDER
Mulled Spiced Plum Cider is definitely my favourite drink at the Cider Lodge. It’s perfect to warm yer cockles on a chilly evening. Served with fresh orange, it’s the perfect cider equivalent to the classic mulled wine. I might even go as far as saying that I prefer it. It is equally good cold, but I’d highly recommend the warm version!
With so much to experience at the South Bank, I would strongly recommend getting down there to try some classic Swedish eats & drinks. Grab a mulled Spiced Plum to warm you up on a cold evening on the South Bank!
The Rekorderlig Cider Lodge is open from 02/11/2018 – 06/01/2019
