Wondering what to wear this season if you’ve got a lil bit of the flub, chub, or ya just plain body conscious? I’ve got ya girl. I’m totally in that boat, so when I’m on the look out for the purrrrfect items to slay the xmas party in, I’ve got to keep a lot of curves (and various lumps, bumps, and food babies) in mind. Here are my top picks for flashing or hiding as much flesh as you feel comfortable with this season.
THE YELLOW DREAM
If you’re going to wear any colour this season, it’s mustard, right? It’s the first colour to draw my eye as soon as I walk in the room, as *hands up* I’m totally on the hype. It’s not as hard as you think to pull off mind, plus this silky, satin plunge dress draws the eye to all the right places if ya feel me… This is such a simple outfit to pull together as the dress says it all really, finish it off with complementary gold pieces and a basic pair of strappy heels and yur guuuud.
THE ESSENTIAL BODYCON
Everyone has that *one* bodycon mini at the back of the closet which makes an appearance post-diet or perhaps if you get ready after a few drinks and feel extra brave. However, if you buy a bodycon wisely it can do wonders for your bod. Although this bodycon doesn’t have the “bandage” look, it’s really shaping and is a thick enough material to keep all of your curves in the right place and showcasing *that* iddy biddy waist of yours!
If in doubt, go for a wrapper. Any sort of wrap up dress is my go-to for accentuating a tiny waist and creating a serious hourglass visage. Plus, this will work if you love flaunting cleavage (why not, it’s xmas for goodness sake?!) or if you’d rather be on the reserved side. Plus, the velvet material gives you all of those drapey, grecian vibes – what food baby?!
THE CLASSIC LBD MIDI
If you’re the type that never shy’s away from the classic LBD’s for work-do’s and social events alike, this one is for you. It’s a midi, which means you can afford to get a little more boob-age out, why not – it’s CHRISSSSTMAS! Plus the neat, wrap waist gives you that hourglass shape whilst the dress hugs all of those curves girl. This one is bodycon on the bottom so if you’re conscious of the tum/bum area, I wouldn’t opt for this imo. However if you’re totally owning that body-oddy-oddy this xmas, this is great LBD with a twist.
THE CASUAL FLORAL
This is the purrrrrfect dress for the gal who h8’s dressing up, with a passion. It doesn’t need any crazy accessorising, or anything like that – It’s a fab casual floral dress. This can totally be dressed up in a super cajj way buy throwing on some boot heels *heck* even make them thigh highs if you’re feeling brave – and ta-dahhhhh – you have a look.
This dress isn’t tight on the mid drift at all, and doesn’t tug on the hips or stomach so it’s really flattering on the body – plus the corseted belt effect really pulls you in at the narrowest point and draws your eye to an iddy-biddy waist.
THE CANDYFLOSS CRUSH
I’ve actually posted this outfit twice on IG already *oops* but I’m sorry, not sorry – it’s HOT. Who knew a £12 would be the answer to all my marshmallow dreams?! This dress is definitely one for the more fashionista gals out there, the velvet screams AW17, and the fluffy bag just accents the pink tones perfectly.
I opted for a bit of a rock n’ roll edge in terms of accessories with a double wrap studded black belt, silver statement earrings, and stacked silver rings and bangles for the perfect edge. This dress is actually a flared a-line fit so it wont hang near any lumps or bumps that you’re trying to keep under wraps, and you can belt it like I have to create more of a skater skirt effect and to emphasise that teeny tiny waist gal!
THE “I’M MAKING A STATEMENT” RED
I always find that I feel like the centre of the room when I wear red, not a read on myself and my vanity, but it is what it is – RED means “look at me”. Honestly, if you want people to notice you – wear a bright colour, right? Red is the ultimate bright ~ stare ~ at me shade as it also evokes feelings of heat and passion which makes you look seductive af on a special occasion.
This dress is not for the faint-hearted as the bardot neckline lets you expose that cheeky clavicle for ultimate shoulder flirting. Oh, and the skater skirt will be sure to hide any extra holiday bloat from sheer amount of fab, scrummy food you just have to scoff down at Christmas time and you don’t need to worry about the food bab.
What are your go-to confidence boosting styles and colours for the Christmas season?
