Hey there cool kids, welcome back to a travel-y, food-y edition of TKL. This is another LDN blogger spot that I couldn’t not go to, you know? It’s famous on the ‘gram for being beauuuutiful, and I’ve been longing to head on down to Hackney to give it try since seeing all of the uniquely colourful concoctions on offer. If you’ve seen those pretty pink, purple, blue drinks with petal decorations – this is exactly what Palm Vaults is all about.
From the moment you walk through the door, you’re fully immersed in a kind of blogger heaven. The table tops are marble, there’s plenty of greenery hanging from the ceiling, and it seems like every detail of the interior has been contemplated and designed to be ‘grammed. There are palm and rose gold deets everywhere you look, and they even have a selection of appropriately chosen artsy books if you fancy a read. To be completely frank with you, I wasn’t expecting it to take me aback at all – however, I really was. This place is bloody gorgeous, and if you do appreciate this type of decor then I’d definitely suggest even popping in for a look.
In terms of beverage, there’s a few pointers that you’ll need to know before making your order. It’s worth noting that the infused Lattes aren’t coloured like the ones you see on instagram, they’re just gently infused with fragrance ingredients like rose, lavender… etc. I tried the Lavender Latte as lavender really is a scent that I have a connection with, and it was beautiful. Not only was the coffee aspect really smooth, but the lavender infusion adds something so different, so innovative to an everyday coffee. If you’re worried about it being too overwhelming, don’t worry – it’s a very delicate note of lavender, and the decorative lavender flowers are the icing on the cake.
We also ordered one of the Tonic Lattes for good measure – these are the brightly coloured drinks that get all the IG coverage, FYI. I opted for pink, because duhhhh, so the Velvet Rose was the one I went for. The Tonic Lattes are made with oat milk and sweetened with agave – which make for a more healthy beverage than your regular latte. The Velvet Rose contains beetroot and a few drops of organic rose water – well fancy. Although I was pretty apprehensive, the delicate flavour was delicious and totally different to any other drink I’ve tried. 10/10 – Would recommend.
The whole aesthetic is something to behold, even the food matches the drinks, which match with the cake, which match the decor…. and it goes on. The lovely lady in Palm Vaults sniffed out that I was a blogger with my many flatlays (and the fact that I strategically grabbed a book and placed a page with the right colour scheme open on the table). She came over and offered us a cake to pop in my photos as they’re a big favourite at the cafe, which was a beaut lil lemon cake. Not sure how much this cake costs, but it was lovely and soft without an inch of dryness.
In terms of food… it’s pretty expensive but that’s what I would expect for a cafe like this one. The Avo on toast dish was obvz going to be the one I ordered, which I then amended to have added chilli jam on top as the server told me that I would regret it if I didn’t try it. Boyyyyy was she right, the chilli jam is a 100% a must have for me now – and I’ll order it on top of whatever I go back and order next time. It’s not too spicy, like a sweet chilli sauce, and has the right amount of tartness to bring the dish to life. Can we take a second to appreciate the flower on the top of my brunch?! The whole dish was actually much more filling than expected and was so yummy that even my boyfriend was converted top Palm Vaults.
We were in a bit of a rush, so asked for the remainer of our drinks to takeout and omg. Can this place get more IG perfect? The takeaway cups something from a bloggers’ dream, pastel colours and palm leaves? Hell yeah. If your coffee wan’t instagrammable in Palm Vaults it definitely will be to takeaway. Honestly, these little cups will brighten up your day.
Okay, so I can safely say that Palm Vaults is certainly not a gimmick. It’s pretty, quirky, and they serve damn good food and drink – so what’s stopping you? Drop by Palm Vaults the next time you’re in East London – your IG, and your stomach, will thank you for it.
