Have you experiences the feeling for finding that product? The instinctual feeling that you’ve finally found a holy grail and know you’ll love it for life? I have officially found my holy grail lipstick formula, and I’m so excited to share it with the world on TKL as I have barely seen it featured anywhere on the interwebs and I feel like it deserves so much more recognition than it gets.
I recieved my first Full Throttle lipstick at an event which was somewhat sponsored by NYX Cosmetics, in an insanely generous goodie bag filled with a variety of brands and products to test out and trial. I was a bit “meh” at the look of the shade “Con Artist” because how many vampy matte lipsticks can a girl have, right? Answer is – there is no limit.
I remember the first time that I popped this Full Throttle lippy on my mush, and it was love-at-first-application (yes, that’s a thing) and I wore the dark wine red shade everyday for about a week because I was so infatuated. The formula applied like a cream-dream, yet was instantly matte and the colour was so pigmented and really packed a punch.
I smoothed it onto my lips in the morn before a long day on the #grind at uni, and checked my lippy in the loo after lunch and *hold your breath* it was still there. I would probably say that it 90% of the original application was there and I only needed to add a little to the inner rim of my lips & hey presto – I was in business. It also layered beautifully, and didn’t go all crumbly and gross. Honestly, I really didn’t know that I could truly love an affordable drugstore formula the way I was falling for this one.
Obviously, the next step was to buy another – duh? So I popped online to Feel Unique and grabbed another Full Throttle Lipstick, this time in the more wearable deep nude that was calling my name – “Kiss The Dust”. This one arrived a few days later, and the same thing happened. I literally could not stop wearing it. This shade had the complete same formula as Con Artist, and was just as beautiful and comfortable.
About a month passed and I found myself itching for a #treatyo’self kinda purchase as I was wondering around the NYX counter at Boots and I found myself watching the Full Throttle lippies again. Logic had me, purple hair? Purple lipstick. Just had to be done, couldn’t argue with myself, I caved. The beautiful punchy-purple grape shade “Locked”, and an even deeper, vampier “Loaded” happened to slip into my basket, they were mine and I had no regrets.
All four of the shades in my collection feature the same creamy yet completely matte formula, which doesn’t dry lips out or look cakey, or “too matte”. The have that same velvety look that matte nail varnish tends to have, and they do not transfer. Which is incredibly rare for a regular “matte” lipstick. The packaging also does things for me, bravo NYX – the top of each lippy is the same colour as the actual product which means it takes me less than 0.5 seconds to pick out the one I want to wear (espesh handy during a 15 minute makeup job pre-9am lectures).
It’s safe to say that I am totally head over heels for these puppies, and I would 100% any makeup enthusiast to at least go to their local NYX counter for a swatch or makeover with a your colour preference. Because for £6 a pop? They’re the biggest bargains of my entire makeup collection.
