Apologies for the lack of brows and eye make up, but it’s exam time and my life is slowly falling apart (send help, lots of it). I thought I would start a new beauty series to show you all my lipstick collection which, apart from my hair, is what I get asked about the most. Thus “Lipsticks of Luxe” was born, and expect to see a variety of mostly matte, nude and red shades that I seriously can’t get enough of!
So me and my boyfriend were browsing for gifts in M&S a few weeks before Christmas, and I felt a sudden urge to venture into the beauty department (which is something I never do in M&S). To my complete amazement I found out that they sold the Stila Stay All Day Lipsticks (£16.00/3ml) and they actually had all the colours in stock. Absolute madness. After attempting to buy this product numerous times in Boots, and experiencing disappointment in the lack of stock, I was unbelievably excited.
TIP – It actually retails for cheaper in Boots at £15.00/3ml if you can find them in stock!
The three shades that I was interested in getting the most were: Dolce, Amore, and Fiery. However after swatching in store, I realised that I pretty much have dupe versions of Dolce and Fiery from the Sleek Matte Me Range – so I settled for Amore. And I am so, so glad that I did.
This deep, berry-toned nude is oh-so flattering and the small amount of shimmer in the formula does give some depth to the colour. Stila claims that this lip product provides “Long-lasting colour and stays in place for up to 6 hours of continuous wear” – and it definitely does last a very long time. It also claims that it has a “weightless” texture and will not bleed or transfer – upon application I find that it somehow always leaves a tiny speckle of residue on my teeth, but a quick wipe and it’s gone – so it doesn’t bother me that much. The application itself is even and opaque, so only one or possibly 2 coats are needed for that full colour lip.
Would I recommend it? 100% – it’s definitely worth the splurge.
I also wore this in my Winter Wedding Edit, check it out for some ideas on how to wear it.
Have you tried any Stila products before? What did you think?
