Hey Kittens, how are you all? I thought I’d write a little somethin’ somethin’ about myself as I haven’t actually sat down to write anything personal in the last few months, and I always find it very therapeutic. Actually taking the time to sit and reflect on your current life choices always seems to give some much needed clarity. I’ve been through a lot over the past 2 months, and although I don’t really feel like dipping into the sadder parts, I’m going to be touching on all the little positives in my life.
The first big positive of the last few months is that I finally finished uni. OMG. It was a long time coming. FYI for those of you who don’t know, I did 5 years at Cardiff University and I’ll now be graduating with a First Class Honours Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering. IKR, who would have known that I’d make it this far? To be completely honest with you, I didn’t completely mesh well with my course as it was so uncreative and I felt boxed in.
I’m definitely the type of person that needs creative control, with space to grow, and engineering certainly isn’t that. About 2 years into my degree was when I realised it wasn’t the one. So you’ll probably understand how proud (and relieved) I am that it’s all finally over. I’m probably never going to end up using my degree in an engineering job, but I’m looking to go into PR/Marketing/Accounts, so the numbers aspect might just come in handy!
Enjoying the shots? I spent yesterday evening strolling through a field in Salisbury in the golden sunlight with my boyfriend. Yesssss, I have a boyfriend and he’s pretty cute too. It took me a while to get over my last long term relationship, and I finally realised that I need to concentrate on me and do what I feel is right for me. I found someone sweet, caring, and gentle and I didn’t want to let them go.
Speaking of Salisbury, I’m currently lingering here in limbo. Alix and I are taking a time out from uni to get some rest bite and really work out what we want to do with our futures. We both know that travelling is top on the agenda but we’d love to get some work experience in our respective fields before hopping on a one-way ticket around the world.
Speaking of travelling – you may have noticed that I went on my first ever blogger press trip. When I first started my blog 2 years ago, I would never have guessed that I would have come this far as a blogger. I remember getting a blogging twitter account and having about 100 followers, trying to interact with all of these “big” bloggers with thousands of followers and feeling totally insignificant in the industry. I worked my butt off ever since, and it just shows that hard work and persistence prevails!
When I got the email from the lovely gals over at Clickstay HQ, I literally couldn’t even speak. My boyf was like “wtf are you trying to say hol” and I was speechless. It was such an amazing opportunity and I was determined to fucking werk it and get every single shot and write every single post on Cyprus as I possibly could. Safe to say, I’m a perfectionist and if I can’t make something happen, I make it happen. I’m still working on all the travel posts, but if you enjoy them check out the hashtag on IG #thetravelkitty & I’ll be uploading one travel post a week on TKL – mixed in with my usual style & beauty bits n’ bobs too!
Just want to say a quick thank you to readers who have been frequenting TKL since I started, it means so much that you’ve followed me through the longest university journey and some of the toughest mental health moments in my life – love ya kittens!
