Looking for some quiet time and a cheeky beverage in the heart of the Shoreditch hustle? Juju’s is located right round the corner from Spitalfields Market and only a short walk from Shoreditch High Street station, and is your new east-end cocktail haunt on London’s very own Brick Lane.
Juju’s invited me over for a brevvie, and I just couldn’t wait to pop down on the train to see what they have on offer. The first thing about Juju’s that will have you hooked is the decor, from the moment I walked through the door the wicker seating and hanging plants totally had my little blogger heart. The walls are adorned with plenty of funky shoreditch-appropriate wall art, and the sporadic lighting really does pull together that rustic “we’re cool and didn’t even try” look.
We decided to give the signature Juju’s cocktails a try, & I ordered the Cherry Pop (designed in-house by the barman, Barto) which was a mysterious concoction containing violet extract and egg whites. Don’t get egg whites put you off though! It’s what gives the frothy foam top to your yummy cocktail, which Barto kindly covered in beaut little petals for an instagrammable touch!
I can’t for the life of me remember Alix’s cocktail name, and the website doesn’t list the available cocktails – but it was bloody lush too! Sweet, yet tart, this mixture of fresh berries and gin was delightful. Served long, it lasted quite a while and a little sprig of greenery was the perfect decoration for a fragrant gin cocktail.
Did you know you can also get award winning fish & chips to complement your signature cocktail? The famous Poppies of Spitalfields (who have been serving the classic dish since ’52) scoot on over to Juju’s and bring your meal straight out the chippy, to your table. From battered calamari to a classic piece of cod, this is some seriously British nosh. So if you’re in Juju’s enjoying one of the many live music events, there’s no need to worry about missing any of the action!
Have you visited Juju’s for a cockatil yet?
