If you didn’t already guess, this month’s Glossybox has a very special theme – The October box is Unicorn Vs. Mermaid! It’s available in two different box designs for £10 each (+ P&P), and is full to the brim with all sorts of creative, fun products to brighten up your month. I thought that Glossybox might have gone for more of a vampy theme as this is the month of (the best holiday ever) Halloween – but alas, I’m not complaining.
As I receive this box as PR I’m not entirely sure how you can choose your box, but I got the mermaid variety which is totally me. I’ve always considered myself as a bit of a purrrmaid being a kitty n’ all & the “MERMAID” sweatshirt is just the cutest easy peasy casual style piece ever. I can’t wait to laze around the house in this, and tuck it into jeans for super laid back look. Anyway, let’s get onto the box contents, shall we?
Make Up Revolution Eyeshadow Palette
Full Size – RRP £4.00
Oh heyyyy jewelled palette – these shades are ideal for creating mer-perfect eyes to amaze. Day or night, this palette is a great starter kit for those wanting to try out bright “in yo’ face” shades without committing to a higher end price tag. I don’t totally rate Make Up Revolution in terms of quality, but some of their products really are hidden drugstore gems.
Sleek Makeup Cream to Powder Blush
Full Size – RRP £5.99
The idea of this blush is perfect for me, I don’t like using cream products as they always end up really greasy on my oily skin and have the tenancy to slip around. This one blends out and dries to a powder finish, perfect for my skin type, however the shade is way too cool toned for my olive skin. It would be so jarring, so I can’t even give this one a try. TBH I’ll probably pick this up in a peachier shade in store soon!
Kawaii Enterprise Brush Cleaning Egg
Full Size – RRP £7.99
I’ve got something quite like this already but it’s a sucker-thing that sticks to the sink with loads of ridges and grooves on it – and they bloody work. This would actually be ideal for on-the-go cleaning or if you only need to clean a handful of eye shadow brushes. I don’t think this would work for a beauty blender or for large powder brushes, but eye brushes would definitely get a good clean – Just pair with your fave brush cleanser!
Lord & Berry Magic Brow Pencil
This is a nifty edition to the box, and I love a good brow pencil so… it’s a winner. I do rate Lord and Berry as a brand, so it nice to see something in the box from them. It’s a fab edition to my vast brow product collection but I’m sure it will come in handy when I’m having one of those brow-panic kind of days.
Beauty Bang Cream Colour
Full Size – RRP £20.00
Honestly, I don’t see myself using this product anytime soon. Purely because cream products aren’t my favourite (they do an oily skin gal no good) and the colour is again just too blue toned for my skintone. It is a multi product, however, which is fab – options, options, options. You can use this as a highlight, blush, cream eyeshadow base, or even a lip colour. I just wish this shade suited me more!
You know what, I’m not the girliest of girly gals but I loved the entire box theme this month, everything is bright, colourful, and useful. I really do wish I got a more wearable blush shade, but other than that I think every item is a fab edition to anyone’s makeup collection. It also contains some great top-ups (like the brow pencil) as well as some drugstore that you may have not tried already (Makeup Revolution Palette). Well done, Glossybox, puuuurfect October box!
Are you a mermaid or a unicorn?
