Well, well, well – After going on a self inflicted budget / shopping-ban… I bought Glossier. I know, I have no will power, but when I was invited down for the launch party of their LDN pop-up shop last weekend how could I not have a little, self-indulgent splurge. I didn’t go H.A.M. (hard as a mutherfukker fyi) as Glossier did gift me two of the products that I wanted to buy on the evening of the launch which was incredibly lucky. But I did go back a few days later to pick up the two other products I had my eye on.
Apart from the obviously beautiful, aesthetically pleasing, extremely well marketed packaging – what’s guuud, Glossier? Honestly, before trying out the products I 100% believed that the hype over these products was purely just due to how bloomin’ gorgeous the packaging is. Imo, it’s some of the best in the market and you can really tell that the brand is the baby of a blogger/influencer as it’s been done so well. But is the stuff inside that to-die-for packaging really all the rage?
I thought I’d start off at an all time high, this stuff is a game changer for big bushy brows. My brows are naturally full and a little unruly (which I like) and tend to just need a little bit of combing through and filling in. I thought this product would be like the Benefit Gimme Brow, but it really doesn’t share many similarities apart from the applicator brush.
The Gimme Brow has a more dry fibrous consistency which “builds” hair on your brows by layering the product as you brush it through, whereas the Boy Brow is a straight up gel-hybrid formula which adds a tiny of colour to make your brows appear fuller and thicker without adding any “hairs”.
I much prefer this formula as it’s not as easy to fuck up with, and it doesn’t have any fibre/powder fall out throughout the day. The gel-type formula also hold my brows in shape really well so doubles as a wax – Winner, winner!
This is my 2nd favourite item that I picked up at the Glossier pop-up, the coveted Cloud Paint. Now I’m sure a lot of people only buy this product because the cute af packaging that looks like an actual paint tube, as cream blushes don’t seem to be anyone’s favourite type of product.
The cream blush is actually a really lovely texture and consistency, again with a sort of gel-hybrid type feel to it which bounces on the skin whilst sheering out beautifully upon application with a damp sponge. I would defo recommend applying it this was as this does apply slightly unevenly for me with my fingers or a mini blending sponge, but with a regular makeup sponge it sheers out really nicely for a *flushed* cheek effect. The product also sets well with translucent powder and stays put on the cheeks all day on my oily skin.
I’ll 100% be picking up more of these shades online, however I really do hope they come out with bronzers/cream shadows in the same concept as I really think it would work in their favour….
Although this smells ahhhhh-mazing, it’s a pretty average balm. I don’t find it more hydrating than my classic go-to’s from Burt’s Bees and Carmex to be completely honest. I adore the packaging (as expected) and I would recommend the Birthday Balm and the Coconut Balm in terms of scents, as they do smell delish.
I did get this product for free at the launch party, but I would have bought it anyway as I’ve had my eye on this for aaaages. If you fancy the look and smell of the balm, get it – you won’t be disappointed. Just don’t expect a product that will really blow you out of the water, so to speak.
This was another product that I got in my launch party goodie bag, and again, it’s one I would have purchased myself. This shade looks be-autiful in the tube itself, a white with prismatic holo micro glitters running through it that give it a really nice dimension…. it’s just a shame that this doesn’t translate on the skin.
This is a very light shade so I was expecting to really see it on my light-medium skin tone however all I could really see was a greasy, “wet look” highlight. This product has so much potential but unfortunately I would only recommend for those looking for that wet look product that has a shiny, almost oily, finish to it.
