Spring Trends To Wear Now

The time is now! Can you believe that we’re slowly yawning out of the winter slump?  I already feel like I’m emerging into the Spring months feeling fresh and ready for the brighter, longer days to come. Now that the sun peers over the skyline at about 7.30am every morning, it’s hard to stop dreaming of floral spring midis and light jackets. But alas, we have a few months to go before we can vacuum pack our woolies away and really commit to a SS20 wardrobe. If you’re already feeling gentle buzz of excitement for Spring, here are 5 spring trends to wear now. They’re easy peasy to implement into your wardrobe and some will last you through to summer, whilst others just involve sprucing up what you already have with a few nifty styling tips.

5 Spring Trends To Wear Now

50 Shades of Pastel

Now, now, we all know that I’m not shy to layer my pastels. Back in autumn, I was wearing full head-to-toe pastel hues… and I wont be stopping any time soon. Bit of a ~ Pastels for spring? Groundbreaking. ~ moment. But really, don’t fix it if it ain’t broke right? There’s a reason why pastels are always my go-to look.

The muted shades are very easy to layer, and if you buy the right pieces it’s almost like a capsule wardrobe of it’s own. Don’t be shy… mix pastel shades like mint & lavender, and peach and lemon yellow! This really is an invitation to step outside the box and create beautifully muted monotone and drumstick-esque pastel looks.

If you’re don’t wait to hit the full pastel trend right now, you can totally pair with autumn/winter friendly shades that you may already have in your wardrobe. For example, mint is really wearable right now when paired with it’s brother toned down sage, and lemon yellow with more rich, deep buttermilk shades. If you’re looking to get your pastel fix all in one place, I’d highly recommend looking at the New In section at & Other Stories.

Cleated Heel Boots

One big trend for Spring/Summer is a cleated heel. Big, chunky, and reminiscent of the stomp stomp chunky trainer trend that came in this time last year. The cleated heel boot is the perfect transition boot to get your hands on now, and wear through the whole of Spring. I personally opted for a pair of faux leather chelsea style pull-ons which act like a fancier version of a welly as I’m thinking ahead for April showers. I style these with literally anything: joggers, mom jeans, midi skirts, floaty floral dresses, and long t shirts… and I really can’t get enough of them. My must have boot for SS20!

Juicy Neons

Nothing says a S/S collection like bursts of juicy bright neon shades, right? This year you can get your fruity fix much earlier as the trend creeps into pre-S/S collections at all of your favourite high street stores. However, it is worth digging through your current wardrobes for those rich, vibrant jewel tones from Autumn as you can definitely style them up with bright pops of neon.

If you’re brave enough, make a statement and suit it up with a full tangerine two piece. Or if you’re a neon virgin, grab a few nods to neon and style up with muted, tonal outfits to bring your pieces into Spring/Summer transition.

Think tan/nude pieces and a pop of neon lime, or a full monochrome outfit with bright pink heels. Only want a teeny, tiny, nod to this trend? Try neon sunnies, an easy way to add a dash of juice to any Spring outfit.

Square Toe Shoes

This AW19/20 season has been a big one for the square toe boot, and things aren’t about to change. If you’re investing in any occasion wear shoe or just a simple out-out heel to wear with jeans a nice top, opt for a square toe. You’ll get a more fashion-forward, designer vibe by hitting this trend. To get more wear out of your square toe beauties, opt for a black or nude which can be styled with various jean cuts, smart trousers and midis through March – May. Quilted Details

Quilted accessories are all over the high street, and the trend is set to be *big* this SS20 with thanks to big designer brands like Bottega Veneta and Chanel.

In terms of quilted shoes, the move has quickly been toward padded mules like those seen at Bottega Veneta. The square toe keeps the geometric lines looking crisp and chic, whilst the padding adds that little boost of luxury. Don’t have £700 to drop on a pair of heeled miles? No problem, the high street is nailing the dupes and really do have your pick of the bunch for as little as £20 in some stores.

The quilted bag trend has been kept alive by the likes of Chanel, but opt for a Bottega Vegeta (or a dupe) to really revitalise the padded trend and keep things looking current and fashion-forward. Quilted shoulder bags and clutches with quilted straps are very in right now. But you also don’t have to go with a full quilted affair, with more patchwork styles making a big statement at Topshop.
