When it finally got to the 1st December, I took the plunge and decided to not do blogmas/vlogmas this year. This was for many reasons – mostly because my blog is still really new, and I have copious amounts of revision to do for my January university exams. Therefore actively finding christmassy things to post about daily would not be in my best interests (but blogging in general is such a great procrastination tool). After seeing so many people’s blogmas posts, I have gotten a bit regretful. But I’m sticking to my guns on this one, as there’s always next year if I’m in a better situation. To get in the Christmas spirit I thought I’d share a few of the festive things that I’ve been doing this December!
THE LOOK: MAKE UP & ACCESSORIES
Since I’m really not a fan of cool tones (due to my brown peepers) I decided to stick to a warm tones golden-bronze look. My lids are covered in metallic gold and bronze shadows, with a cooler-taupe brown in the crease to not over-do the look. Nothing says christmas make up like a bright red lip – my take on this was a deep true red in a matte texture to balance the shimmer on my lids. It’s slightly gothic, and it’s adds a edgy element to traditional festive make up. I kept my base clean and fresh, sticking to a full coverage foundation (to hide my alcohol flush – wine was on the menu), mattifying powder, a defined hollow contour, and a light dusting of champagne highlighter on my cheekbones. As this was just an evening meal, I didn’t go for falsies (either nails or lashes) to keep things relaxed and simple.

The girls put on a pretty amazing spread, from Prosecco on arrival, then a Melon & Prosciutto starter, to a chicken dinner with all the xmas trimmings (including seconds of everything, yum!). I swear I left the house feeling 10 times heavier, but it was worth every mouthful. The icing on the cake was the dessert, a gorgeous little strawberry santa surprise & mountains of profiteroles! The girls really pulled it out of the bag, and it was such a fun, girly evening. Sorry for the poor snapchat quality photo – I was so excited and completely forgot to take real shots!
We ended the evening with giving our secret santa gifts! As students we arranged to spend no more than £5-£10 dependant on what we could afford – it’s just a little treat for us all at the end of the semester! The big theme of the gifts ended up being H&M – both beauty and homeware, as we’re all still pretty excited about the opening of the new superstore in Cardiff and there’s such a great range of products to suit every taste. I got a lovely LUSH giftset (my secret santa knows me too well) and I can’t wait to use the products!
