The longer that I’ve been blogging, the more that I’ve realised how important setting blog goals are. Not just for your own satisfaction, but for the growth of your blog. If you think of a blog like a business, you need to have a business plan to predict growth. That’s how I’ve been quantifying my lil’ blog’s growth over the past 6 months, which allows me to see whether I’m hitting those goals that I’ve been working so hard for.
Around the 1st January 2016, I wrote a little blog aims & goals post about all the things I hope I will achieve through my blog in the year 2016. And hasn’t the time flown, right? We’re now 6 whole months into 2k16 and it’s about time that I looked back on those goals to see if I’m on track, if I need to push myself a little more, or if I need to set brand new goals!
GOAL: 75,000 by end of 2016
NOW: 100,000 by middle of 2016
In the first 3 months of my blog, I was at around 15,000 views, and then in the last 6 months, I hit 100,000 views. This means that my blog was viewed 85,000 times in the last 6 months, oh my gaaaad.
This is pretty insane. I can’t believe that that number has grown so fast in all honesty, and I’m pretty overwhelmed. It’s always a great feeling to know that people are actually enjoying reading your content, and coming back for more!
NEW GOAL: 185,000 views by end of 2016
GOAL: 20K by end of 2016
NOW: 20K by middle of 2016
I’ve had so much growth on my social media channels, and it’s made me a very happy kitty. Especially since I love interacting and sharing the love in the blogging community, it’s amazing to see us all growing together. I went from around 15K to 20K in 6 months, and the support from my followers has been just amazing.
NEW GOAL: 25k by end of 2016
GOAL: 6000 by end of 2016
NOW: 7000 by middle of 2016
My Twitter has grown from a tiny following to 7k, in a matter of months – and I think that’s all down to interaction. At the beginning of my blogging venture, I didn’t have much time for Twitter and didn’t put much time or effort into the platform. But like with any social media platform, if you put in the time, you really do reap the benefits. I also get the majority of my blog traffic from Twitter, it’s a platform worth investing in!
NEW GOAL: 10,000 by end of 2016
GOAL: 500 by end 2016
NOW: 1200 by middle of 2016
I had no idea that I would even get close to 1k on Bloglovin in 2016. If you read my blogging goals posts that I put up way back in January, I did mention that I find it the hardest platform to grow, and it still is! I think that interaction again is key here, and the more you interact with other people on Bloglovin, the more people do the same for you.
NEW GOAL: 2000 by end of 2016
NOW: 283 likes
GOAL: 600 likes by end 2016
I didn’t have a Facebook page when I penned my initial goals post, so I’ve had to set a one now. I’ve gained almost 300 likes in the last 6 months, and whilst that isn’t overly impressive, I am very happy with it. As a Facebook page it’s so difficult to interact with anyone who likes the page, and most growth was done through giveaways and mentions on my Twitter. I just hope that I can gain 300 more before New Years!
NOW: 175 Subscribers
GOAL: 1000 Subscribers by end 2016
I’ve barely even started to vlog yet, so it’s safe to say that I am over the moon with 175 subscribers so far. I’m working hard on getting some better camera equipment, lighting, and editing gear – as a perfectionist, I really have been struggling to do it on a budget with my iPhone 6. I am definitely looking forward to upping my youtube game this Summer/Autumn – keep an eye out!
