The September Birchbox* is all about getting into that Back-To-School spirit, and stepping up your beauty regime for the new season. The theme is #BirchboxHeroes, and rightly so, as the box is full to the brim with hero beauty treats ready to help you in becoming your best self this month.
The box’s design was chosen earlier in the year, after Birchbox* asked subscribers to send in their dream box ideas, and this lovely pastel geometric box was chosen! It’s inspired by subscriber, Philippa Colliass’, mood board – & you guys know that I’m such a sucker for pastel tones.
I’m in love with geometric designs as well (I’m trying to find some awesome prints for my new home), oh & this box is just ridiculously pretty. Did you notice the lil draw too? As far as I’m aware Birchbox* usually uses a small box with lid type design, however the draw is so damn cute. I can’t wait to reuse mine for beauty storage on my vanity!
The first item in the box is a sample of the NUXE Prodigieux Shower Oil* (£10.00 for full size) which is a presumably a shower gel that promises to cleanse and pamper your skin. It has a gorgeous gold sheen and smells (a la KathleenLights) essssspensive. I think that this is a perfect product to inject a bit of luxury into your everyday routine!
The Amika Bombshell Blowout Spray* (£14.99 for full size) was the next thing in the box to catch my eye. I absolutely adore hair spray-type products, whether they’re volumizers, moisturisers, or style-enhancers – I love a good spritz! The bottle states that the spray should be used before blow drying to ensure extra texture, and contains Sea Buckhorn Berry to nourish, strengthen, and repair. With my lifeless processed hair, I can totally see myself getting good use out of this lil sample bottle.
Amazingly enough, a full sized Model Co makeup product* was included in everyone’s Birchbox this month, either a Crème Rouge (£14.00) or a Highlighting Trio (£17.00)! Although I received this box as a PR Sample, I don’t believe that you could choose which product to receive in your box (please correct me if I’m wrong in the comments!)
I did receive the Highlighting Trio*, and to be completely honest – I’m over the moon. I love highlighting products, especially the crème variety as you can get a very natural sheen to the skin. I think the idea of the product is fab, as you get a pearly white highlight, a rose gold glow, and a bronze shimmer all-in-one!
The idea of getting a Laura Mercier product in a subscription box is really ticking my boxes. I’ve used Laura Mercier products and although they are pricey, they are totally worth splashing the cash on. The Blemish-Less Foundation Primer* (£29.00 for full size) is perfect for combo/oily skin like mine, as it is water-based and controls any shine throughout the day.
The texture is so strange, it feels like a watery gel initially and then melts into skin leaving a hydrated feeling, finishing with a smooth base for makeup application. This will definitely get used by moi, and is already at the front of my vanity table!
Finally, a STARSKIN Eye Catcher Mask* was hiding at the bottom of this month’s box, which makes this box a real winner for me. I have a few of these at home for any emergency skin problems as they really work wonders. I’ll be saving this mask for a tired-eye day, and I can’t wait to use the serum on my entire face as it makes for a great skin moisture boost!
I’ve worked out the value of the box by the amount of product that you actually receive, as personally, I don’t understand how people can judge the value of a box on full price products that aren’t actually in there! So here it is, broken down for you lovely lot!
