Apologies for the lack of Birchbox review for October, folks. It seems that there was a little mix up between Birchbox and the courier, and I never recieved my October beauty box! NGl – I was a tiny bit gutted as the box was a glow-in-the-dark Astrological theme. But alas, despite the odds, I did recieve the November box* courtesy of Birchbox to review for all of you huns reading this right now.
The November 2016 Birchbox is a collab with the infamous Tatler magazine, and it looks absolutely gorgeous. I am head-over-heels for the peacock design, and even though a lot of people don’t appreciate different box design, I always re-use mine so it’s a definite plus if it looks the part on my vanity.
This is one of the full sized products that is guaranteed in every box this month, and at a £15.00 face value, it’s a good’un. My only gripe with this product is the scent, which is of the much-loved fresh mint variety. However, I am allergic to menthol! Although I haven’t had a reaction to this, the scent does put me on edge a little bit. I have actually used an OCC Lip Tar product before, the cult fave Black Metal Dahlia, and I swear by it for stunning metallic lips that last all day.
Although I don’t think that a moisturiser is much of an exciting product to recieve in a monthly beauty box, I can always use a good moisturiser. In fact, I never stick to one whole moisturiser as I have recieved many in beauty boxes, and I move onto a new one when the samples run out. It’s a great way to store up different moisturisers for different skin needs, and plus – you can pop them in your handbag for any dry skin troubles throughout a busy day. I have actually tried this one before and it definitely works for my skin – wahey.
Sadly, this is another product that I already recieved in a beauty box in the last year – and I don’t have the need for another one! So I’ll probably be passing this on to a friend or my sister. On a positive note, it’s a brilliant brush and I do use my one everyday for anti-tangling and less breakage than a regular hair brush, so if you don’t have one already, this would be a great product in this month’s box.
I’ve definitely been looking for a new brow product to fill in my brows real quick before running out the door to uni, so I’m pretty happy to see this in my box this month. It’s a perfect ashy dark brown shade that would totally match my natural brow colour. Fingers crossed the formula lasts a decent time on my brows – If so, I might be onto a winner with this one.
This rose scented oil/serum promises to add radiance to skin and boost your skins’ glow. Unfortunately, I do have pretty oily skin and facial oils as a general rule just don’t work for me personally. However, the cold air really is creepin’ in quick and my skin is feeling worse for wear – with dry patches galore. I’m going to try and pop this one on any dry patches before bed and before makeup to see if there’s any improvement. It’s currently sold out, so that’s gotta be a good sign right?
Even though there were quite a few fab products in this month’s box, I couldn’t help but look at a few other products that I could have recieved in my box and get a little bit jealous. Could have definitely done with any one of: a dry shampoo sample, a damaged hair mask, a glowing BB cream, or a bronzing brush, to top my box off tbh. Either way, I’ll be getting a lot of use out of the products that I did actually recieve, just a bit of a bummer that I’ve already trialled and tested quite a few of them!
