April & May Beauty Favourites

I know, I know, before you say it – my favourites post has been ghosting for way too long. I’ve had to take a step back from blogging for the last two months to really make the most out of my time for revision – but alas, UNI IS FINALLY OVER. Finally, I can’t believe it. Even though I’ve been prioritising other aspects of my life, I’ve still been enjoying R&R by taking a little time out of my day to self-indulge in a little beauty and skincare testing. I’ve been trying out some amazing products over the last few months, and I’m beyond excited to share them with you all – finally.

QVC – Peony Rose in a Clear Glass Cube*

Papier – Ludo Pink Notebook*

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Porcelain*

I was sent this from the lovely Wizard Publicity team, and I literally cannot believe that the colour matched me themselves… over the internet. Mad skillz. The shade is perfect for the skin tone, which is slightly strange for the shade name “Porcelain”. The shade is supposed to be for fair with pink undertones and I’m more light-medium with yellow undertones ??? So I think I probably would have picked up “Ivory” in the shop m’self, but none-the-less this foundation is werkin’ for me. It has medium-full coverage and is oil free, so totally up my street so far right? It glides on the skin beauuuutifully with a sponge and really does give a natural finish to the skin. Longevity-wise this lasts all day on this skin and doesn’t break up or develop oily patches, so thank you Too Faced – I’m head over heels for Born This Way.

Balance Me BB Natural Perfection SPF 25*

Even though I’m usually against “one shade fits all” formulas, this one is an exception. I may be biased because this one works for my skin tone so well, but I think it would suit a lot of people in the Light-Medium shade bracket. This BB cream is so unique, it’s thick and balmy which acts as a great primer for a proper foundation base, or on it’s own for a dewy look with a little bit of correcting coverage. I always have to use my hands to melt and work it into my skin and it does dry tacky so I always have to set this – but it’s a dream for no-makeup days. It also contains SPF 25 which is brill for sunny days when you need a little bit of a confidence boost and a natural look.

Essence Camouflage Full Coverage Concealer

This is such a brilliant high street bargain, and I’m surprised no one talks about this in the blogosphere. I picked this up in Wilkos on a whim for £2.50, and it makes for a crazy high coverage brightening concealer. I love popping this on my high points and blending with a sponge for a bit of matte highlighting too – and it never bunches up or creases – just make sure to set it with a powder under the eyes (obvz).

Essence Satin Touch Blush in Coral

I picked this up for £1. I’ma just let that sink in, one pound. I think that’s ridiculously good value, considering that the formula is absolutely fab. Honestly, I couldn’t ask for more in terms of a drugstore blush. It applies beautifully, and the shade is a perfect flush coral that is purrrrfect for a summer pop of colour on the cheeks and the sheen it leaves on my cheek is gorgeous. I’m actually going to head back to Wilko’s to pick up the other shade options because I am sold.

Benefit Hoola Quickie Contour Stick*

NYX Bright Idea Illuminating Stick in Sunkissed Crush

I’m grouping these two products because even though they have different uses, and finishes, I never seem to use them together – as they kinda do the same thing. I’m using the term “kinda” very loosely here as I love the finishes of both of them, and I’m not really swayed one way or the other. I adore both of these products!

I was kindly gifted the Quickie Contour* by Benefit and I must say, the packaging is to die for – I love it – and I was also so surprised at home flattering the shade is as a bronzer or a contour. It sort of does both anyway, and blends like a dream.

The NYX version is a bronze-y shade of their latest Stick line which focusses on both highlights and shades to warm up the skin.

NYX Away We Glow Liquid Highlighter in Moon Beam

Uhhh out of all my recent NYX purchases (some of them have been right duds) this has been the highlight *not worry* of the last few months. I ordered “Moon Beam” because it looked like a creamy champagne shade with a  touch of peachiness, and that’s just what this is. I’m only na bint disappointed as it’s a tad darker than it was showing in swatches, and I’d usually go for something that adds lightness to the skin, not just shimmer. But other than this, it performs excellently and leaves a gorgeous sheen on the cheekbones – so… obviously I’ll be buying more oops!

Laura Geller Easy Illuminating Stick in Ballerina*

Although this shade wouldn’t be something I’d pick up myself, I absolutely love the sheen it gives to my skin. I’ve compared it to a “glazed donut” on my IG story and that description couldn’t be more accurate. After popping online to find a link, I was quite shocked to see so many poor reviews, as I keep reaching for this product over and over again, I don’t find that it moves my foundation at all if applied with a gentle hand and then tapped in with the fingers. I’m hoping to try the “Gilded Honey” shade as I love a gold highlight on my yellow toned skin, yaaaas!

Gerard Cosmetics Slay All Day Setting Spray in Watermelon

As soon as I saw “available in watermelon and coconut scents” on Beauty Bay I knew I was making the purchase, the only dilemma was which one to buy?! I chose the Watermelon in the end as I know that I love both natural and synthetic (think bubblegum) watermelon scents whereas fake coconut scents can give me a headache, literally. So glad I went for the Watermelon as it smells deliciously tropical and leaves a beautiful finish to the skin.

Rodial Glamolash Mascara XXL*

I’ve been trialling about 5 new mascaras over the past 2 months, and this was the only one that didn’t flake on me. Yup, it’s crazy – but this one stayed put all day. Not only that but the packaging is gorgeous and I love the thick formula of the mascara itself. The only drawback is that this mascara is a bit crappy for length but will give you dramatic volume like false lashes, so I would stay clear if you’re all about length and separation. For my tiny, sparse lashes, this does wonders.

L.A. Girl Gel Extreme Shine Polish in Striking

Have you heard about the new summer nail trend going round? I was at the Spectrum Collections summer event last week and the lovely gals at the Nails Inc bar told me to watch out for white nails, and that they’re so in right now. I’ve been rocking this shade on my toes for a week now and I love how glowy and tanned my skin looks in comparison. Yes, the shade is pretty thick due to how opaque and white it needs to be, but the finish is fab and I’ll be picking up a few more summery shades from L.A. girl for sure!

Burt’s Bees Citrus & Ginger Root Body Wash*Burt’s Bees Peach & Willow Bark Face Scrub*

This combo has been my favourite shower pair for the past two months, especially in the morning. Both formulas are so fresh and natural – plus the scent of the body was is the perfect morning pick-me-up for when the coffee hasn’t quite done it’s thing yet. The face scrub is equally as amazing, especially because it’s actually a creamy exfoliator so you aren’t stripping your skin as much as with a usual exfoliator type product. All in all, they smell amazing, work wonders, and don’t leave your skin dry or tight.

REN Evercalm Ultra Comforting Rescue Mask*

This mask is by far one of the best that I’ve used for sensitive skin that’s also prone to oily breakouts. I only use this when I have had a random breakout on my face to really calm the area down and reduce redness, and I find that it helps wonders. The creamy formula also smells very gentle and is a dream to apply, plus a little goes a long way as the packaging is really efficient at squeezing that product out for you – 10/10 would recommend!

Perricone MD Intensive Pore Minimizer*Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Facial Pads x60*

I’ve also paired these two products together because I’ve been using them interchangeably for the last month. I was sent the Perricone MD Pore Minimiser to trial in April, and although I’ve been adoring the formula – is is extremely pricey. Worth the price? Absolutely. But for a student, it’s just not feasible right now. Nip+Fab sent me over their Exfoliating Facial Pads, and I think that they’re a great alternative to the pricey Perricone variety. I’ve been switching it up by using each product every other day, and my skin is so clear right now. I’m also a massive fan of the pre-soaked pads which aid that makeup removing  at the end of the day,

Versace Bright Crystal Eau De Toilette

I just had to purchase this after getting a lil sample size parfum in one of my online orders, it’s officially my summer scent. No, it’s not luxury, or extravagant, or expensive… and I love that. The 30ml size of this bad boy only set me back around 30 squids and I couldn’t be happier with the scent. Ngl, I have no idea of what the “notes” are, etc, it just smells fresh and I can’t wait to spritz it all over myself all summer longgggg.

Percy & Reed Perfectly Perfecting Wonderbalm*

I have so many haircare products that my draws are pretty saturated when it comes to hair balms and oils, however this has been my go-to for a month now. It has a faint but pleasant scent and gel-balm consistency which melts into the hair. I pop this on dry hair before I go to bed and wake up with locks that smell amazing, hold curl, and feel hydrated. Plus the packaging is so cute, and I love the fact that it’s shaped like a squeezy tube but comes with a super handy pump.

Rodial Dragon’s Blood Hyaluronic Mask*

I’ve left this product til last as it has been my favourite skincare product for what feels like the last year. Yep, I’m pretty convinced that I haven’t loved a skincare formula this much for a very long time and I’m absolutely blown away with how much it has changed my skin. You pop it on after cleansing, but before bed, and wake up with completely re-texturized skin which feels firmer, plumper, and has visibly smaller pores! It’s a little pricey but I 100% believe that it is worth what you pay for it – if you’re looking for a skincare investment – this is it!

What have been your beauty favourites for the last few months?

Have you got any suggestions for me to try out?

*Some of these products were gifted to me, however all thoughts and opinions are my own*

Ooh is the Nyx Illuminator really that alright? It sounds a bit annoying that it's darker than expected :(Mel ★ http://www.meleaglestone.co.uk

You can get other shades so it's not too bad, I just picked out one that's slightly more peachy! x
