The festive period – Hurried, hectic, holidays. Sometimes it’s key to take a step back from the hustle & bustle of the town centre, the Christmas attractions, and savvy shopping for a relaxed evening in. Even though I can totally appreciate a trip to the Christmas market to sip on spicy mulled wine (or cider) and nom on a warm, turkey & cranberry sandwich, it’s important to remember to wind the clock back and simply enjoy the Christmas season for what it is.
SETTING THE SCENE
For me, a candle really sets the mood when having an evening in at home. I’m really in love with the Woodwick Candles at the mo, as they make the sound of a crackling fire when they burn! I have the Large Jar candle, however I’m really crushing on the HearthWick variety as the wick is longer and represents a fireplace even more.
If you have a Christmas sweet tooth, then a sugary fragrance such as this one in Jolly Gingerbread or Campfire Marshmallow would suit you silly and if you’re into more of a warm, cosy scent then Wood Smoke or Warm Wool would definitely be up your street.
Naturally the fave staying-in drink has got to be a homemade hot chocolate, with compulsory whipped cream, cinnamon-ny chocolate, dusting and fluffy marshmallows. I love giving mine a little boost with all sorts of festive flavours. You can actually pick up the original Monin syrup flavours (that are used in most coffee shops) on Amazon! Like Gingerbread, Cinnamon, and even Tiramisu!
When it comes to yummy things to snack on, I’m a sucker for a few classic festive faves including bite-sized pigs in blankets (obvz) and easy-going cheese on crackers, with a variety of jams and chutneys!
Generally, the cult faves are Home Alone, Home Alone 2 (let’s not talk about no. 3 okay?), A Christmas Carol, Miracle on 34th Street, etc. However, Jack Frost definitely ranks up high on my go-to festive films – *cough* The Nightmare Before Christmas being my ultimate favourite, duhhh. If you’re a bit of a sucker for more alternative, modern films then Elf is totally up there with the best, as well as The Grinch. Oh & Krampus, which was released only a year or two ago, is a gr8 festive option for horror enthusiasts!
Obviously no film is complete without the right screen….. Queue the Panasonic 4K TV, which features Ultra HD and come in a range of sizes, up to a massive 65″ – Purrrrfect to watch your fave festive movies on I reckon.
THE LITTLE EXTRAS
Couples can get warmed up using a yummy LUSH Massage Bar, my favourite is Tender Is The Night – it smells like a vanilla dream and makes skin super baby soft. Plus, it’s definitely excuse to get up close & intimate whilst it’s chilly outside. Or a romantic bath could feature the limited edition Magic Wand bubble bar for some seriously pink, gravity-defying bubbles.
Girly night in? Well there’s always a chance to incorporate in some form of spa-inspired aspect, right gals? I’d definitely grab some of these indulgent Chocolate Mud Masques from 7th Heaven, plus there are even White Chocolate, Mint Choc Chip, and Coffee Mocha Mud varieties.
How would you spend a cosy Christmas night in?
