If you’re like me and are finding yourself constantly scrolling through social media of late, it’s hard not to notice the sheer amount of Valentine’s day trends that everyone else seems to be embracing this month – & it’s easy to think that you just can’t keep up with the hype. Right? Wrong! I’ve pulled together my top 5 Valentine’s Day Beauty Trends, and trust me, they’re the only ones you need to know to get you through the big V-DAY.
Of course, choosing which lippy to wear on the big V causes many a girl quite the dilemma. Do ya go for the classic red lippy, or free style with a poppin’ pink? But going for dinner/drinks puts a safe nude on the table, right? Then the question of matte, creamy, or gloss arises. Can you really be dealing with liquid lipstick peeling off after you tuck into your starter? Or having to keep touching up gloss after it transfers to your cocktail glass? The list goes on really. Which every way you swing this Valentines, here are my top five with a little something for err-body:
(I mentioned this in my latest January Beauty Faves post)
Liquid: NYX Lip Lingerie in Exotic
IDK about you lot, but the first thing that comes to mind when I think of V-Day are all of the #valentinesnails trends that happen to surface at the beginning of February. I’m not hating on it at all, in fact I love seeing all of the beautiful heart and rose inspired designs that you just don’t really see during any other month of the year. My favourite designs are simple, yet cute af, as you don’t need much to make a big statement. For example, I currently have the heart tips that you can usually spot on your IG feed, but in my usual goth gal black! Totally more wearable.
You don’t even need to restrict yourself to the regular red shades, because how cute are pastels for Valetnines, huh? Baby pink & grey make a purrfect combo and is very wearable too so you can really get the most from your V-Day manicure! Not into all the hearts n’ roses? You could add a little romantic touch with a red to white ombre, or add a splash of pink glitter on your ring finger, which are both both trendy and super cute.
I would suggest checking out Treatwell* for some awesome Valentines Day offers including a selection of 2 for 1 Spa Days, up to 50% off hair removal and up to 30% off off-peak manis –
Proves you don’t have to break the bank for a gr8 mani-pedi!
Looking for the ultimate pamper gift for your loved one? You can purchase a gift card so your special someone can pick out a relaxing spa treat that’s just right for them.
When I think of date night skin, I think of natural, flawless makeup with a glowing complexion and beautiful perky cheeks. The base is so important here, as it’s best to go with a foundation that isn’t too thick and cakey. Although I love my Estee Lauder Double Wear for going out-out , it’s just way too thick for date night and can look way too overdone. I tend to stick to something like NARS Sheer Glow or Laura Mercier Silk Creme for matte coverage, yet a more natural finish.
Adding a little contour can go along way, because everyone loves a poppin’ cheekbone, am I right? By simply blending out NYX High Definition Blush in Taupe with a little warm matte bronzer like Benefit Hoola, you can create a much softer, more romantic look, without compromising on those chiseled features. Adding a soft dusty rose blush like Sleek Blush in Rose Gold can create that perfect flushed cheek, and an illuminating highlight like The Solstice Palette is pretty much the icing on the cake.
Okay so fragrance is uber personal, however I really wanted to include it in my post. I know that everyone usually goes for the flirty florals, like Marc Jacobs – Daisy. but I like a much more deep mysterious scent, especially for an evening date. Here are a few of my ultimate faves:
Personally, I like to keep my hair out of my face and quite simple – I let my makeup and outfit do the talkin’ if ya know what I mean. So I usually opt for a few little accessories to make the impression if feel the need for an extra lil bit of va-va-voom. I’ve picked out a few of my favourite hair accessories that could definitely be worn after v-day (I am not a one-time-wearer kinda gal hehe).
What trends are you loving for Valentine’s Day 2017?
