#YourNewMcDonalds - How To: Click & Collect App

Last week, I popped down to the McDonalds Capitol Shopping Centre Cardiff restaurant to learn more about the latest digital additions to #YourNewMcDonalds - one being The Click & Collect App. With a busy lifestyle and plenty of mouths to feed, the Click & Collect app is going to completely change the way I order at a McDonalds restaurant. The Click & Collect app allows you to order on the go using your phone, and pick up your order at a McDonalds restaurant of your choice whenever it suits you. No more undecided ordering at the till, no more wasting time at the drive-thru window... Here's how to save time & peace of mind with Click & Collect!

*This is a paid post with McDonalds, but my opinions and views are my own*

1. DOWNLOAD THE APP

Easy peasy, just search "McDonalds" on the app store for Apple or Android, and the first app is the one you want. Once downloaded, you can sign up at lightening speed and choose your preferred McDonalds restaurant. Your preference can always be changed dependant on which restaurant you're heading to, but the app will (by default) select the closest one to you... Great for finding your nearest McDonalds if you're out and about too!

2. BROWSE THE MENU

You can browse the entire McDonalds menu on the app, and also have a detailed look at the nutritional information, enabling you to make an informed food decision when eating out at McDonalds. One new feature on the app (which I love) is the section of the menu dedicated to calorie bundles! There are two sub menus, featuring bundles of McDonalds items that add up to 400 kcal and 600 kcal.

3. ORDER ON THE APP

So this is the super easy part: making the order. The app is ideal for those with families & young children (ordering is a little bit more complicated) as it allows everyone to add in their food choices in advance. Simply pass the app around and tap on the items you want and they're then added to your order! Once everything's all ordered and ready to be paid for, you can checkout by entering your card details.

4. SCAN AT THE RESTAURANT DOOR

When you get to the selected McDonalds restaurant, you need to scan the barcode generated by the app at one of the check in points. You’ll spot a small sign near the doors which you probably haven't noticed before. I certainly hadn't noticed it, but one you spot the signs you'll have no problem scanning the code using the app... and voila! Your order goes straight to the kitchen to be prepared and you have the choice of picking the order up to takeaway, or opt for the table service option and the food is brought straight to you when it's ready! When you order on the app, the food doesn’t start cooking until you “check in” to the restaurant by scanning the barcode, meaning all food is prepared fresh.

When I was a guest at the Capitol Shopping franchise, I also met three lovely ladies who wanted to talk about their experience working at a McDonalds restaurant. Lucy, Alison, & Aggie spoke to me about their careers with McDonalds & how it’s giving them the flexibility & rewards they always wanted from a job. From juggling work & children, to working in their way up in their McDonalds career, these are three strong, independent ladies whose lives have been genuinely changed for the better with McDonalds, and I’m wishing them all the best in the future.

Thank you for having me, McDonalds!
