Bloomin' Brilliant Afternoon Tea at The Royal Lancaster

Whether you're suffering from Wisteria Hysteria (a phenomenon which marks the start of floral fever in London town at the start of may) or perhaps you're just a massive floral enthusiast all year round (both aptly describe my love of florals)... The Royal Lancaster London has just launch to satisfy both your tastebuds and your floral cravings with their Bloomin’ Brilliant Afternoon Tea*. From 2 May until June 2018, the pastry chefs at the Royal Lancaster will be switching it up with a beautifully botanical inspired feast & tea combo which will have you swooning.
*This experience was gifted to me, but my opinions and views are my own*

I went for a little press preview a week or so ago (with my little sis, Grace) and we were beyond excited for the tea after simply soaking up the interiors. The space where the Afternoon Tea is served ~ The Hyde Lobby Bar ~ is just behind the front desk/reception area, which we still find a little strange, but the decor makes up for that. If you loveeee that gold and marble aesthetic like me, then it will totally be up your street. We were greeted with the question "champagne?" ~ the answer to which is always "yes" obviously ~ and so we kicked off our experience with a glass of Moët & Chandon Brut Champagne*.

We then got to work to select our teas for the afternoon, which wasn't a difficult task for either of us as we're big tea fans! I opted for my absolutely fave, the classic Earl Grey* and Grace went for her O.G. fave the Green Tea*. Once our tea arrived we left them to brew for the allocated time (around 3/4 minutes) and then poured our first cuppa. It's worth noting that the crockery here is to dieeee for! The clear glass cups, teapot, plates, etc really did appeal to my modern/minimalist side and as soon as we saw them Grace said: "These are so you"... which is very, very true.

The plates of food came next, and I was really impressed with the selection that my sister received as she's a veggie and we both didn't think she'd have as much choice as I did. I tucked into the savouries: home-smoked chamomile-infused salmon rose, a eggs with wild baby cresses figer sandwich, a choux bun filled with coronation chicken, English Asparagus paired with sun-blush tomatoes and red amaranth, and a (served warm) brie, honey, and red onion chutney tart. Grace got some fab veggie alternatives, and she did manage to scoff them down before I found out what they were but she was very happy with the fact that the veggie options had been clearly thought out and not a last minute thing. By far, the brie and onion chutney tart was both mine and Grace's favourite out of everything served up on the savoury plate, I could have eaten 10 of them - Yum!

"Would you like a serving of scones?" we were asked, and we replied with two wide-eyed grins. Yep, scones all the way. For me, this is the best part of Afternoon Tea as I just simply don't eat scones otherwise, and it's a real treat for me. Luckily, I love raisin scones and Grace loves the traditional, plain variety so there was no fighting over who gets which scone (as sisters this happens all too often). The scones were not only served with the usual strawberry jam and Cornish clotted cream,  but also featured a Orange marmalade accompaniment which we both fell head over heels for.

Obvz, we made room for the sweet plate (it's a necessity right) and how cute is the tiny flower omg? We tried a classic strawberry tart w/ lime curd which was wonderfully creamy, yet zingy and full of citrus, a chocolate flower pot with faux-dirt which was so, so cute, and an orange blosson and ginger macaron (my fave, I love a macaron). Oh and the lemon and elderflower dable dome went down a treat, it's not a dessert that I'd tried before but it really did surprise me.

The Bloomin' Brilliant Afternoon Tea* is available now til June 2018, from 2pm until 5.30pm - and is priced at £35 per person; £45 with a glass of Moët & Chandon Brut Champagne; and £55 with a glass of Moët & Chandon Impérial Rosé Champagne.
