The New Super Pigmented Lippy That You Need In Your Life

When it comes to lipsticks, I'm a hard gal to impress. There are so many brands, formulas, & shades out there, and simply put - I am so picky. You guys know that I can't stand lipglosses, and I stay away from any colours that wash out my yellow undertones.

In my short 22 years on this planet, I have tried and tested literally about 100 lipsticks, and only around 10 of them have made the cut. Meaning I have only 10 lipsticks that are front-row-vanity worthy, you know what I'm talking about, ladies!

Funnily enough, I was sent three of the brand new Make Up For Ever Artist Rouge lippies* (RRP £17.00) of my choice by the lovely team at Precious About Makeup - and they have all made my top ten. Read on & I'ma tell you why.

PACKAGING

Matte black & silver packaging? It's a BIG yes from me! I love simplicity, and I can really appreciate it, so the simple bullet lipstick casing is perfect for everyday use. I did get send two shades in the tester versions as they were samples, so they don't have proper lids (and I'm totally okay with that). However, the one with the entirely black outer packaging is the standard retail packaging FYI!

SHADES

M102 - Pink Brown* - A rich, pink shade with a dash of brown and purple
M400 - True Red* - A classic true pillarbox red
C108 - Hazel Beige* - A medium brown with pink and mauve undertones

FORMULA

When I was deciding on which shades I wanted to try, I obvz went for two matte colours as the finish is by far my favourite in a lipstick. However, I spotted the Hazel Beige* and almost fell head-over-heels. Even though I am in no way a usual fan of cream lipsticks, I thought I owe it to Hazel Beige* to give it a swift try.

(The M and C letters in the shade numbers correspond to the formula, Matte and Cream!)

Surprisingly I ended up trying the creme formula first as that Hazel Beige* shade spoke to me. Naturally I blotted after the application to add a semi-matte finish and I have no regrets about that. The colour was still just as super-pigmented and lasted the majority of the day, even after having a meal!

So I clearly had some high expectations for the matte shades, and for good reason - they're all incredible. The matte shades lasted just as long as the cream (after blotting) and didn't settle in any of the thin lines in my lips which is so important in a matte formula. The True Red* shade applied more evenly than the Pink Brown*, but that's nothing that a quick rubbing of the lips can't redistribute.

I can't believe how much I've been reaching for these, and surprisingly how the cream formula Hazel Beige shade is actually my favourite out of all three. If you're looking for a must-have high end lipstick that really is worth the money, I would suggest definitely looking into the new Make Up For Ever* Artist Rouge Lipstick collection!

  5. Hazel beige and true red look amazing! I've started drifting more towards cream lippies lately. As much as I love a good matte, sometimes they can be a little drying. Like you've mentioned, blotting after you've applied takes away some of the original shine you can get from cream, yet doesn't have that drying effect matte can sometimes have. Love your photos too by the way, great shots :)
