Blog Goals & Promises for 2016

Happy New Year everyone!
What better way to start the year than to set some goals for 2016 (other than a hangover of course) - I'm so excited to see what this year has in store for my blog. Bring it on!

PAGE VIEWS

I could only think of doing this in a logical, mathsy way - so here we go.

In the last 3 months I've managed to hit 15,000.
That's 5000 a month on average since day one (not my monthly average this month),
so I could maybe get to 75,000 views in 2016, maybe.

INSTAGRAM - @holstayy

I had a bit of a following before I started my blog, so my Instagram is more about me than it is based on my blog. If that makes sense to anyone? I add a little about products or my blog here and there, but I don't mention every blog post I do if it isn't relevant to my "feed" (oh I do hate that word). I'm currently at 15.2k and it would be great to reach 20k by 2016.

POST MORE ABOUT STYLE/FASHION

This is more to do with Instagram than anything else, but I always make an effort to style myself well and then completely forget to take pictures of my outfits - let alone blog about them! In 2016, I am going to make a conscious effort to post more about fashion/style on my Instagram & blog. I have a series of Fashion Edit's planned - starting with What's In My Wardrobe - so watch this space.

TWITTER - @thekittyluxe

Before starting my blog, I barely ever used Twitter and therefore I've had to get the hang of it pretty quickly. It's actually become my favourite social media platform - over Instagram? An omg moment right here. I do tend to be quite active on it everyday and I really am trying to boost my blog views. At the moment I'm at 3200, and fingers crossed I may get to 6000 by the end of 2016.

BLOGLOVIN' - The Kitty Luxe

I honestly don't even think I know how to use Bloglovin' - it's probably the most difficult social media to manoeuvre, and even interacting on it gives me a headache. My aim is to crack BL, but I don't think that's going to happen as it's so hard to gain followers on it. Honestly, if I want to keep up to date with a blog, I'm more likely to save them I'm my Bookmarks folder named "Bloggers To Watch". I've tried to let other bloggers know that I do follow back on Bloglovin to show support for all the bloggers that read The Kitty Luxe. I'm at 250 followers now, and if I could reach 500 by 2016 - I will be over the moon.

TO GO TO A BLOGGING/BLOGGER EVENT

The aim is literally to just go to one event, seeing as there seem to be no events in the South Wales area. I really wish there were more because it would be so beneficial in networking for the Welsh bloggers out there. My family home is in London (where a ridiculous amount of events occur), but for some reason I always hear about the events last minute or because I'm a student and money is a rarity for me, I simply can't afford to go.

DO SOME BLOGGER COLLABS

I really want to do some collabs with other bloggers in the new year, aiming for one - but I would love to work with a variety of bloggers on little projects! Give a little comment down below or DM me on Twitter if you would be interested!

GET BUSINESS CARDS

My boyfriends really going to laugh at this when he sees it because he told me to get business cards when I first set up my blog.

I'm in no way bragging, but I literally get stopped at least once a day by someone commenting on my hair. Sometimes it's like "oh it looks cool" which is fine, other times the person wants to delve into the abyss and ask me how I did it step by step - while I'm just trying to buy some shaving gel in Boots.

Sometimes I do think that it would be a lot easier to just hand them a card and ask them to contact me online so I could help them properly. But then another part of me thinks that it may look like I'm taking myself too seriously. If I can find a good producer, I might just get them done - Please leave a comment if you know one!

BLOGGING GEAR

I have only recently gotten to grips with my super old Nikon SLR, and that seems to be doing the trick. As a student it so difficult to decide whether I'm doing to spend my disposable income on content for my blog, or things to make my blog posts better like cameras, lighting, and props. My one aim is to get some sort of ring light or box light to do tutorials with.

MAYBE VLOGGING

I'm putting a big maybe here because I don't know if blogging is something that I want to do yet. I'm still new in the blogging game and I have to weigh up whether it would be beneficial to start vlogging.

On one hand, my SLR doesn't auto focus in video mode, the lighting in my apartment is awful, and I can't yet afford lighting equipment. Oh and I am quite (very) camera shy.
On the other hand, people have been asking me to do vlogs non-stop since before I even started blogging. And now a few people aren't happy that my tutorials are written and would prefer me to talk them through it on camera. Hmmm, we'll see what 2016 brings on the vlogging horizon.

TO MEET OTHER BLOGGERS

I've met so many amazing people online, and I would love to meet some of them!
South Wales / Cardiff bloggers - Please get in touch!I really want to meet some of you, and it would be nice to arrange a Cardiff Bloggers meet up sometime in 2016 (even if it is just for coffee, cake, & a stroll around the arcades)

So there it is, my blogging aspiration for 2016 - can't wait to see what the new year brings!

  2. I think you'll do great with your goals!! :D I wish I could have such high aspirations for my own, but given how much little time I can spare from studying at the moment, I'm happy to settle with whatever I get.

I totally get where you're coming from with Bloglovin' followers, too. I've been blogging for almost two years, and I'm sitting around the 165 mark -- it's like for every odd follower I gain, I lose another two or so, so it's a little frustrating. I find it relatively easy to navigate, though. All of the posts from bloggers I follow show up in a neat, orderly fashion, and I can quickly look to see who's updated and mark off the posts that I know I won't read. I don't really use the other functions.

Anyway, I hope that you have an AMAZING 2016, and that you reach every single goal -- and then surpass it!

  3. I hope you achieve all your goals for the year. Instagram is one I'm trying to get to grips with this year, it's always the social media platform I tend to neglect!

  7. Sounds like you've set some pretty good and achievable goals for this year. I know your pain with the blogging event thing, I'm from Birmingham and although its a pretty big city there never seems to be much going on here either.

Good luck with your blog! xxx

  11. This is the best 2016 blog goals post I have seen so far. I like the fact that you've broken it down rather than just in one big paragraph.

Fellow Jimmy Carr laugher, you can do this.

  15. These are some great goals, I have quite a few similar to yours too! Because I'm studying fashion, my university lecturers often tell me buying business cards is a great way to make contacts through events so it's definitely something I'm considering. I recently got a Nikon SLR for Christmas so I'm hoping to get to grips with it soon to produce some better photography on my blog. I'm also up for a blogging collab, if you're interested I'm over at @clarkecouture on Twitter :)
