Pur Minerals Secret Crush Palette Review

Sorry guys, I've accidentally taken almost a week off but I've had a lovely Christmas break and I've been busy planning a load of new content do the new year, exciting!

So if you've been reading my blog recently, you would have probably seen my post about a HQ Hair Giveaway that I won not too long ago. Because I got such an array of beautiful products to try out, I decided to do separate reviews for some items and then mentions in my favourite posts for others. One item that I was so excited to receive was the Pür Minerals "Secret Crush" Palette retails at RRP£24.00/each, for 8 shades. I had heard of the brand before, and was expecting big things from the palette - so here's what I thought of it!

I am literally in love with the look of this palette - I am so fussy about packaging and this ticks all of my boxes. Why? Rose gold metallic casing, a secure hinge closing mechanism, and an overall chic feel. Simple, yet effective packaging that would definitely catch my eye if I passed it in a shop. The only let down is the brush, which is large and only useful for clumsy application. Not quite sure what sort of brush it's supposed to be, all I know is that it's pretty useless.

Unfortunately this palette lacks what I deem to be a bit of an essential - the shade names on the actual palette. For me, it's just a little bit annoying to have use Google to find out the names of the shades every time you need them, especially as this isn't a cheap palette. However, they are listed on the website (with no description) so I have just guessed that they're in layout order because that would make logical sense. Speaking of the layout order, I love it - four shimmery shades framed with two gorgeous mattes. Some palettes make me question the order of the colours, even if it's just a few shades - but this order, I am very happy with.

The names are really cute, and relate directly to the palette name, which I love. There is something a bit special about creating a sexy look by layering on Lust, Passion, and Rendezvou - it really does set the scene, right?

Whisper - matte, true white
Lust - matte, warm nude
Passion - shimmer, warm pink
Muse - shimmer, cool taupe
Infatuation - shimmer, warm bronze
Admirer - shimmer, warm mid brown
Rendezvou - matte, cool mid brown
Rumor - matte, cool dark brown/black

The palette is perfectly colour matched to me, a mix of essential matte shades and gorgeous shimmery accents to make simple, yet bold make up looks. All of the colours compliment each other so well, and you could easily take this on a holiday as an easy multi-look palette. Apparently all of the colours are also "limited edition" - so I'm not quite sure how long they will be around for.

The majority of the colours in the palette as lovely and buttery, however they all have a tiny bit of fall out which can cause a bit of a mess on your cheeks if you're not careful. The one exception for this is Rumor which is very powdery, which is a shame because it's a wonderfully pigmented black tone. I found it nearly impossible to use because of the hassle of cleaning up the amount of fall out. I would also say that Whisper is a bit of a no-go when Lust is just that much more pigmented, and provides a much better eyeshadow base colour. The four shimmery shades however, provide super-saturated colour and blend out effortlessly on the eyelids - I've become a big fan of this formula!

This palette has become a much loved item in my make up bag, and I'm really questioning why I didn't consider buying it before I won it in a giveaway. Even though I wont get any use out two of the matte shades in this palette, the four shimmery shades definitely make up for it. For me, this palette is essentially a four-shade spectacle featuring a variety of wearable and blendable shimmery metallics .

What do you think of the warm tones in this palette? Comment below!
